Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets

Another renaissance is underway at Hollywood Studios that will transform the park yet again and turn it into an even bigger theme park powerhouse. This once half-day park is fast becomming one that takes a full day during off season, and is best for multiple days to get the full experience. And if you love roller coasters and more intense rides alongside some fun-but-tame ones, Hollywood is definitely the place for you.
Part of this renaissance is building all-new rides, such as Monsters, Inc., while others are updating and re-themeing existing rides for a new generation, such as Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith being re-themed into The Muppets. Now, let's face it: part of this is because fewer of the younger generation knows who Aerosmith is (very sad) and it's also because Monsters, Inc. is taking over the old Muppets 3D location. And without that location, Muppets wouldn't exist anywhere in a Disney park despite them owning the I.P.. Hence, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.
A New Classic
Visiting the updated version has a mix of nostalgia—the line queue, the iconic guitar, the band room, the track, and more are essentially the same—while the themeing, music, lighting, and much more are fully and classically Muppets. And not just any Muppets, the crazy fun-loving Muppets led by the Electric Mayhem anthem. This ride is reminiscent of the energy that that Guardians of the Galaxy at EPCOT brought when it first opened.
The ride still begins with a wild 0-57 mph launch in the car while the Electric Mayhem goes on all around you. You still get the wild ride you've always known.
Word of advice: The back of the train car jerks you around a bit. If you want a smoother ride, ride toward the front.
What's Still The Same
Despite the high energy and fun that this ride has, it's essentially the same as the old version. The cars, the track, every twist and turn is the same. Even the queue line follows the same path. Even the guitar out front is the same (although it has been re-painted for The Muppets).
My Take On The Ride
I always loved the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. From the launch to the single loop and the crazy twists and turns while rock music blasted all around you, it was just simply an incredibly fun ride and experience. The Muppets version doesn't fall short. It's actually much more fun than I expected. The animatronics, the music selections, scenery, and more all come together for an experience that doesn't disappoint. I highly recommend that anyone who enjoys roller coasters give this a go, even if you think it's the same old ride. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
