Walt Disney World News from D23 2026

The August 2026 D23 conference was filled with new announcements. Many were driven by Disney CEO, Josh D'Amaro's desire to ensure he can step out of Bob Iger's shadow and propel Disney into its next phase.

We've compiled the list of announcements for Disney World here for you to read in a condensed format that is easier to read than you've probably seen on all those other Disney sites that are riddled with ads.

Magic Kingdom

Carousel of Progress will undergo refurbishment to bring it up to the current era. This ride has been outdated for some time now, and it will be exciting to see it's next iteration.
Piston Peak (Cars Land) was given its official name. In many ways it will mirror the one in California Adventure, while getting a new spin on things.
- Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin Along in Piston Peak is a new family attraction based on the demolition derby from Cars 3.
- Cars Ridge Run Rally is a fun racing experience in Piston Peak. A fun update from its California counterpart, it will be a new and exciting update to the traditional racing rides.
Villains Land
- Maleficent Roller Coaster was given a little more color with new photos, details, and exciting twists and turns.
- Magic Mirror is a dynamic dark ride hosted by none other than the magic mirror from Snow White.

EPCOT

Spaceship Earth is getting its first new updates in over 20 years! This will bring the storyline in line with modern times while maintaining the classic focus on human connection and learning. This is what I'm the most excited for at EPCOT!
Dreamfinder is coming back to the Imagination Pavilion. Dreamfinder was the original character that created Figment back in the original pavilion when it opened in 1983 and has been missing from it since 1998.

Hollywood Studios

Millennium Falcon Smuggler's Run is getting a fresh update via a collaboration with Fortnite. If you love Star Wars and love Fortnite, check out Smuggler's Gambit on Fortnite. Check out both starting August 16, 2026.
Monstropolis is the new Monster's Land that has an opening date in 2027 with these final announcements:
- The Glob Theater is a fun show hosted by your favorite Monsters characters.
- Archie's Scare Pig Pizza is a quick service restaurant centered around college life like in Monsters University.
- Harryhausen's will be the new table service restaurant that will feature an animatronic sushi chef.
- Scareporium is the new merchandise shop.

Animal Kingdom

The Yeti is going to live once again at Expedition Everest! Standing motionless since just a year after opening, this animatronic wonder will be repaired and back to scare.
Tropical Americas is a great new land centered around the myths and cultures of South and Central America.
- Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent is a new surprise addition that will feature Harrison Ford as the man himself for the first time.
- Antonio's Fiesta de Encanto is a fun ride inside the Madrigals' Casita.
- El Carrusel de los Animalitos is a new carousel featuring animals from various Disney and Pixar stories.
